What is Sexy?- Summer Rain

Thank you Matthew Morrison! Mr. Shue gets why kissing in the rain is sexy! His new song "Summer Rain," which contrary to one of the comments on iTunes when I downloaded it, sounds nothing like an 80s song.

While everyone from TSwift to Billie Meyers have sang about kissing in the rain, a guys is singing a love song about rain kisses! Yes, I would agree to his classy and poppy proposal, "Let's make love in the summer rain." And he gets the signs- "Your eyes are begging me to touch you there."

And he hints at the other crucial point about kissing in the rain- eventually those wet clothes are going to need to be taken off..... Any thoughts?

Mazel Tov! Let's go dance in the rain!

Taylor Swift Explained to Boys

Hi guys,

You don't get Taylor Swift. You may think she's hot, but you do not get her music. You are puzzled why girls like songs like "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story."Well this is your lucky day, because I'm gonna drop some knowledge. Here is a line-by-line explanation of T.Swift's "Sparks Fly." See Tay Tay's words in red and my explanations in asterisks.

The way you move is like a full-on rainstorm,
* You're a force to be reckoned with*
And I'm a house of cards.
* And you knock (sweep) me off my feet *
You're the kind of reckless that keeps me running,

* Your boy moodiness can turn me off sometimes*
But I kinda know that I won't get far.

* But at the end of the day, you do one adorable thing and I'm hooked.*

And you stood there in front of me,
* How could we be so close and you won't touch me? *
Just close enough to touch.
* Please touch me. I do not have cooties.*
Close enough to hope you couldn't see what I was thinking of-

* This is crazy. I'm going to have to touch you.*

Drop everything now.
* Stop playing video games for like five minutes*
Meet me in the pouring rain,

* Note: Kissing in the rain is hot*
Kiss me on the sidewalk,

* So kiss me already, I'm not a nun.*
Take away the pain.

* I'm in pain because you will not kiss me*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly,
* I dream about you at night*
Whenever you smile.
* So stop torturing me and just kiss me*

Get me with those green eyes baby, as the lights go down,

* Your eyes are beautiful, dazzling even*
Give me something that will haunt me when you're not around.

* I will stare at my Edward Cullen poster and imagine you staring back at me with that intensity*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly,
* There is something magic between us, like Edward and Bella*
Whenever you

* So stop acting weird and boy-ish*
Smile.
*And man up, 'cause you're torturing me.*

My mind forgets to remind me
,
* I secretly think you secretly enjoy torturing me*
You're a bad idea.
* You have this mystery bad boy thing down waaaaay too well*
You touch me once and it's really something,

* You touched me! Praise the Lord.*
You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be.
* And you like cuddling with me, so don't stop.*

I'm on my guard for the rest of the world,
* I try to be strong for everyone*
But with you, I know its no good.

* But once in a while, its nice to vent to you about all the crap.*
And I could wait patiently, but I really wish you would-
* I'm waiting for you to get over a) you ex, b) your friend's teasing, c) your move/job/grandma's death - so we can be together.*

Drop everything now.
* But I'm not waiting forever.*
Meet me in the pouring rain,

* You will never understand why the rain is sexy*
Kiss me on the sidewalk,

* But I will make you watch 'The Notebook' until you give up fighting the point*
Take away the pain.

* I wanna be with you*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly,
*Although sometimes I wonder if I'm mentally unbalanced for thinking so*
Whenever you smile.

* You look at me and I sometimes turn into a third grader- giggles, running away etc..*

Get me with those green eyes baby as the lights go down,
* I've caught you staring at me longingly, don't lie*
Give me something that will haunt me when you're not around.
* And I think I've been on your mind too even if you don't say it.*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly,
* Because we belong together like Meredith and McDreamy,*
Whenever you
Smile.
*And I really don't care if you won't watch Greys. You're missing on on scoring ,major points with me though.*

I run my fingers through your hair,
* I just want to make out with you*
And watch the lights go wild.

* And you will enjoy it too.*
Just keep on keeping your eyes on me,
*Eye contact is scary,*
It's just strong enough to make you feel right.
* But I feel warm fuzzies when you look into my eyes.*

Lead me up the staircase,

*You're finally getting my point*
Won't you whisper soft and slow-

* Whispering sweet nothings is sexy.*
"I'm captivated by you baby,
like a firework show."
* This quote is a "panty dropper." Use it when you mean it. Captivate is a magical word.*

Drop everything now.
* Drop your pants.*
Meet me in the pouring rain,
*Seriously, if you can't seal the deal now with some romance, I feel sorry for you*
Kiss me on the sidewalk,

* Kiss me*
Take away the pain.
* Yes, that's better. No more pain ans secret longing.*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly,
* Cause I see you holding me tonight*
Whenever you smile.

* And maybe every night if you play your cards right.*

Get me with those green eyes, baby as the lights go down,

* I like talking to you before I fall asleep.*
Give me something that will haunt me when you're not around.
* And when you're not there, I'm going to miss you*
'Cause I see Sparks Fly, Whenever you smile.
*Because I am totally falling in love with you*

Chivalry is Not Dead!

Just when I think Fred can't be any sweeter, he tells me about his Saturday night and his fforts to keep a creeper away from a friend. He says, I'm so tired, I was at the bar until 3, although I planned to leave even earlier.

He tells me how the band played one of my favorite songs, and then says he was leaving and a friend from work was trapped in a corner with a sketch dude. She mouthed "help me," and he came over and joined them for the rest of the night, keeping the creeper at a distance until said creeper's friend interceded about an hour later and pulled creeper away.

Sounds like he's a keeper.

The Cutest Text I've Ever Gotten

I was all prepared to blog again about what is sexy- part 2," which is going to become a weekly blog post. But on the way there, I got the cutest text ever from Fred. It read:

Grocery shopping with mother... saw capri sun, thought of you.

This was completely heart-melting. Recently Fred and I were up talking late at night and I busted out a capri sun to quench my thirst.

In the pre-relationship "he likes me, he likes me not" speigl, this is most definitely in the "He likes me" column.

A Ramble-y Post on Girl Power

No lie, I’m in a tres girl powery mood lately. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve just built up my circle of guy friends and am feeling like- to quote my dearest PipPepPop- “my lady mojo” is at an all around high for the first time in a while. Or maybe it’s the fact a rumor mongering bitch has declared me the newest lab skank, dating and hooking up with every male scientist within my grasp that isn’t gay or married (which wouldn’t be bad if I hooked up regularly or had gone on a date in the last three years). I’m all about the girl power lately.

I think the concept of “the Madonna and the Whore” has been discussed ad nauseum. You’re either the saint or the skank, and nary the twain shall meet. But what if they could? It’s always driven me nuts that there’s this double standard. I don’t consider myself a batshit crazy feminist, but if the boys can get their kicks, why can’t I?

Lately, I’ve been binging on old school fifties and sixties pop, and I came across this song that pretty much pissed me off. A catchy pop melody originally released by Dianne Renay in 1963, Please Don’t Talk To The Lifeguard was covered by numerous other women of the era.

The story here? A girl goes to the beach during the summer, where apparently the lifeguard is smokin’. She wants to talk to him- but alas! There’s a sign forbidding her from speaking to him. So how to meet him? No, she won’t wait for him after work in the parking lot, or be clever and buy him a gift wrapped bottle of sunscreen. I think the lyrics say it best.

“Guess I’ll swim way out into the see, and then I’ll meet him when he rescues me.”

Girlfriend. Look at your life. What are you doing? (And seriously, why are you wearing long pants to the beach? Damn that'll be uncomfortable in the sand!)

So ladies, what do I have to say from this ramblyness? This spring, go for it. Don’t be afraid of being the whore. Or the Madonna. Or the lab skank. Go for what you want. The important people in your life- your family (ok, maybe don't tell your mother...), your friends want you to be happy. And fuck what other people think. Just don't use pseudo-romance as a way to fill the emptiness. That's when it gets skanky.

It's only the start of 2011, get the hell out of the house and have some fun.

But please, don’t drown yourself. Have one of your friends shove him in the water and save him yourself. That’ll leave a lasting impression.

What is Sexy?

The simple answer: I have no idea.

Like and Cosmo rader, I know there is a thin line between sexy and skanky. I also know that while Britney Spears can sing "Hold It Against Me" in a totally hot tone, I would be ridiculous doing the same.

So, back to square one. What is sexy?

For me, it's sexy when a guy plays a guitar. It's also sexy when he teases you a little (there is a fine line between a little sexy teasing and just being an ass), perhaps during an activity. On the same token, competition is important- light competition. Playing Skee Ball and kicking his ass- can be considered sexy, as long as you don't totally demolish him.

Speaking of sexy, kissing is quite sexy. Tonight's episode of Being Erica has a very sexy kissing dream sequence. And for a complete explanation of sexy kissing in the rain, look no further. A guy friend recently commented on one of my favorite songs, Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved," a song that's all about standing out in corners in pouring rain. Not quite kissing in the rain (see Taylor Swift songs for more), but his comment was "why would you stand on the corner in the rain?" Not only is kissing in the rain sexy, it is the ultimate girl dream.

Here's Why:
Naley's season 1 kiss in the rain on One Tree Hill, Paul finding Holly's cat and kissing in the rain in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and The Notebook are all prime examples of why kissing in the rain is hot. It's a little hard to explain, but there's something about being in tune with nature, with lips meeting and rain, plus the idea that eventually those wet clothes are going to have to be removed. In conclusion, rain kissing is only hot in warm (read: summer or spring) rains. There's nothign worst than feeling like you're going to catch penmonia whilst kissing in the outdoors.
