Songs That Make My Bitter Heart Fuzzy: Spanish/Latino Edition

So despite my sciency inclinations, I was a Spanish minor in college. And I will attest that Spanish is a romantic language. No seriously. Gomez Adams was on to something with Morticia and the arm and the “Querida.”

It is SO true in real life [and I can say that with certainty of statistical significance].

Thus, for my second little music review, I’ve decided to go with some of my favorite sexy/adorable/romantic Spanish songs. And no, this isn’t your Enrique Iglesias/Shakira/Pitbull. That’s not to deny there awesome, but maybe expose you to something new!

Even if you don’t understand the language (or are too lazy to pull up Google translate), these songs are undeniably awesome.

So let’s get it started with the…

ADORABLE

Sie7e – Tengo Tu Love

I mean, who would ever thought the worlds most adorable love song would include name drops of Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey. An ode to being happy with the one your with, whether they can afford a hot tub filled with Avian water or not. This song has an undeniable beach-y feel, so if you love the likes of Jason Mraz or Jack Johnson, you’ll love this.

And dude does a cover of Don’t Worry Be Happy. I mean, what’s not to LOVE!

SEXY

Joey Montana – Tus Ojos No Me Ven

Ok given my last article, maybe I have a thing for men with the last name Montana. But this reggaeton song is fantastic. Joey sings to a woman whose so set on a man who treats her like crap, she can’t see him standing right in front of her. Good for a workout song, and for taking out your anger when the one you love chooses to ignore you. And the beat is SO friggen hot!

ROMANTIC

Taxi AmarilloSi Te Amo

Translation: “If I love you.” ‘Nuff said.

Let the swooning ensue.

Songs That Make My Bitter Heart Fuzzy: Randy Montana Edition

Here's an honest to God fact: like most of humanity, Pip and I love music. Heck, we opted for the band sorority route when it came to Greek life in college (shout out to my TBS ladies & gents- 90's style!).

So, just for the heck of it, I figured I'd add a bit of a music element to our lovely little blog. And seeing how this is a blog about the 20-something love life (or lack thereof), I thought I'd talk songs that warm my bitter heart. You know, like I said in the tag line.

For my first edition, I give you Randy Montana:

And again:

And maybe once more:

OK, confession: if I met him in real life, and I was drunk, I would attempt hooking up with him (sorry Kelly Clarkson). And if I was sober, I'd smile, say something awkward, and probably run away (girl's gotta have an MO!).

ANYWAYS.... back to the subject at hand. Randy "Make it look tempting to move to the state of" Montana is actually from Albany, NY [side note: damn it parental unit, couldn't you have moved THERE when we moved upstate?]. He released is debut single in 2010, and his new single "1000 Faces" is making its way up the country charts now.

So why does it make me warm and fuzzy inside? It's a song that starts slow and subdued, builds to a great guitar solo, and slams to an ending. The beat drives through the song, building to this burst of emotion, at least from where I stand. And the message: "Love has a thousand faces, and I see you."

Yep. Warms my little heart.

Here's a link to the vid. Enjoy the cuteness. Enjoy the message. And enjoy staring at Mr. Randy "Imma jump your bones" Montana.

Rain- It's Bringing Sexy Back

Since my good friend Java made some solid and real world points about rain not being sexy, I'm bringing the romance aspect back into focus- as I rephrase from my "Summer Rain" post, there are two crucial pieces to kissing in the rain:

A) It must be a warm rain
B) Eventually those wet clothes are going to need to be taken off
(Disclaimer: Several years ago, I was not on the rain kissing side either.)

Water cleans, it renews everything. But it can also destroy and ruin. It's poetic- its tragic, its hot! When the Backstreet Boys got doused with water while belting out "Quit Playing Games With My Heart," (about 1.56 into the song) they became legends. No lie, this sparked infinite debates and arguments with me and my friends back in the middle school days. So here are some deliciously romantic songs about the water and weather:

Downpour- Backstreet Boys
I, I wanna to feel the rain again
I, I wanna to feel the water on my skin
and let it all wash away---
In the downpour,
I wanna feel the rain.

She Will Be Loved- Maroon 5
I don't mind spending every day,
Out in your corner in the pouring rain.
Look for the girl with the broken smile,
And ask her if she wants to stay awhile.
And she will be loved, she will be loved....

Summer Rain- Matthew Morrison
Tagline: "Let's make love in the summer rain."
See the post: Summer Rain is Sexy

Half Moon Bay- Train
Up in Tiberon where the girls are warm,
We stay inside while the rainclouds form,
And thank god for rainy days like these.
And just when the time has come to retire,
Baby starts crying so we dance by the fire,
It always does the trick- you better believe.

Steal My Kisses-Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals
I love to feel that warm summer rain,
Just to hear it fall is the sweetest sounding thing.
And to see it fall on your simple country dress,
It's like heaven, I must confess.

Fearless- Taylor Swift
There's something 'bout the way the street looks when its just rained,
You walk me to your car and you know I wanna ask you to dance,
Right there in the parking lot yeah....

And I don't know how it gets better than this,
You take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless.
And I don't know -- with you I dance,
In a storm, in my best dress, fearless.

To be continued....
